As the name implies, Woody’s Steak House, 1321 LaSalle St., Ottawa, is owned and operated by Kevin “Woody” Woodson. With a promise to serve steaks that are USDA choice or better, Woody’s motto is “Food worth traveling for.”
Also the head chef, Woodson prides himself on the quality food he and his team serve as well as his continued support for the community. Each year, Woodson participates in the March of Dimes Illinois Valley Signature Chefs Auction, a fundraiser designed to save and treat babies born prematurely. Besides the famous steaks on the menu, Woody’s offers something for every palate. You might want to start your meal with one of the tasty appetizers such as the blackened duck breast — served with barbecue béarnaise sauce, or our flamed table side Saganaki “Opah.” There also are good old standbys such as fried mushrooms or cauliflower, potato skins, jumbo shrimp cocktail and onion rings for those with more traditional tastebuds.
Once on to the entrée, you’ll be presented with several choices of chicken and pasta, including Woody’s signature dish, Woody’s Chicken — a lightly breaded chicken breast with wild mushroom ravioli in a white wine mushroom cream sauce, the fettuccini or shrimp and scallop alfredo, or Crabmeat Stuffed Orange
Roughy.
If it’s seafood you’re fishing for, Woody’s can line you up with one of their shrimp, lobster, crab, salmon or cod specialties, among others. If these don’t lure you in, check out the surf-n-turf — an 8-ounce filet and 14-ounce cold-water lobster tail, served with drawn butter. As with all entrees, a garden salad or spinach salad, vegetable and potato are included.
Maybe you want to raise the stakes with one of the beef or pork options. The Grand Filet Mignon, Woody’s Marinated Rib-Eye, 10-ounce pork chops and slabs of barbecue ribs share the menu with friends T-Bone and Steak Diane as well as many others. Steer clear of your own kitchen and join Woody’s for the roast prime rib special every Sunday. For $12.95 you will enjoy a 12-ounce prime rib entrée cooked to perfection, complete with salad and potato.
Other specials include all-you-can-eat fried jumbo shrimp for $9.95 every Friday and a variety of other specials on the weekends. For lighter fare, sandwiches, salads and select soups are always available. Available for dine-in and carry-out, Woody’s Steak House also has private dining rooms available for your next party, celebration, meeting or event. All major credit cards are accepted.
